Face-to-Face!

This applies at least to the area in which we can consider ourselves experts:

German language training for managers.

Just two or three years ago, we saw things very differently ourselves. On the contrary, the pandemic-related restrictions seemed to have heralded the rapid and final knockout of face-to-face training.

“Digital only!” was the new motto.

Well-designed online training is undoubtedly ideal for purely conveying information. However, it reaches its limits when it comes to communication skills and intercultural competence. This is where face-to-face training is still clearly superior.

Many of our clients have now had the opportunity to gain experience with both approaches. We asked 157 of them which approach they would recommend. Here are the results:

– Face-to-face training only 39%
– Online training only 27%
– Combination of face-to-face and online training 34%

Online training, which was also nominated, performed well, but could not jeopardise the surprise point winner face-to-face. In second place was our insider tip: the optimised combination of online and face-to-face modules.

This means that an old boxer’s wisdom hangs just as powerlessly on the ropes in modern language training as it does in boxing itself:

“They never come back.”

Face-to-face is back – but not alone and stronger than before.
